Acid Free Mat Board
Acid Free mat board has a white core and is made from pH neutral papers that prevent discolouration. Yellowish-brown "burn lines" are caused by acids (mainly sulphuric) released as the lignin (ground wood) in pulp products breaks down. These boards also have a colourfast top sheet that means the colour of the mat board won't fade as quickly as standard mat board
Standard Mat Board
Standard mat board is a white core board with a decorative (coloured) top sheet.
In the size option box, the first size is the outside size and the second size is the opening.
eg: 8x6-6x4 is an 8x6 mat with an opening to suit an image that is 6x4
If you are ordering a A3, A2, 16x20 or 18x24 mat, include the size of the opening you would like cut into the mat - or the size of the border you would like in millimetres (mm). Include this in the 'Additional Comments' section of the payment screen.
